Greatest act of Kindness

The kindest thing I ever know, is giving birth to a baby and then giving the baby to someone.

It may look weird or unbelievable to the readers but it’s true . This is the story of my friend and his daughter. Let me narrate the story for you –

Vilas is our family friend who is known for his generosity and kindness. He is popular in our friends circles to help anyone and everyone. Even when he prays to god he requests god to resolve someone else’s problems but never asked anything for himself. He says if everyone around is happy, I am happy too.

His daughter Aruna, is happily married and has one daughter. She was once again pregnant and they were not ready for the second child, so they were consulting doctors for the future course of action. His daughter and son in law were content with one daughter.

In the meantime Vilas came to know that Aruna’s Sister in law, was not having a baby and due to some medical reasons she will not be able to conceive. And they were thinking of adoption or other alternatives. Hearing this, Vilas wanted to help her. And came up with an innovative idea as per his generous nature. He suggested to his daughter to carry the pregnancy and give birth to a child and handover to her sister in law.

When he declared his suggestion in the house, it fell like a bombshell. There was heated debate in the house over this proposal. His daughter and his wife were astonished to hear this proposal and upset with Vilas. But he explained them that this could be the best win – win situation for his daughter’s family. Since the whole family was generous, they thought positively over the proposal after the initial debate.

Then Vilas wife said I will agree if the child is daughter because she is already having a daughter but Not allow if she gives birth to a baby boy. We will talk to the sister in law in such a way.

But my friend Vilas was firm and said you should decide now and inform her that we will give you the child as soon as he or she is born. Will not keep him for a minute with us so that both baby and mother can handle the separation peacefully. She has to take care further.

Finally his daughter and wife were convinced for this act of highest kindness. And his daughter gave birth to a baby boy. But the family stood by their commitment and handed over the baby boy to her sister in law. Though it was extremely tough for his daughter but they did it.

When he shared this story, my belief reinforced that the god does not stay in temples but it is within the human beings. And I said to him The god resides in you Vilas, you are great and your generosity is the best example of kindness.

It is surely heartwarming story but real life story.
