Canada Geese – Our walking companion

What are your thoughts about cryptocurrency?

I don’t know anything about Cryptocurrency, I have never used it and do not have any plans to invest in future.

I would like to write about our companion in the morning/evening walk. Me and my wife, regularly go for a walk in the morning as well as evening.

And these Canada Goose, accompany us during our walk. They fly towards the lake in the mor time and fly back home in the evening times.

Initially we were unaware of these birds, but they attract our attention by making constant noise while they fly.

It is an interesting sight to see them flying in V shape. There is a science behind the formation of V shape while they fly. Let us understand the science.

V shape flying of geese

Canada geese fly in a V-shaped formation to conserve energy and increase their migratory range by up to 70%.

 How the V-Formation Works :

Aerodynamic Upwash: As each bird flaps its wings, it creates a trailing edge vortex that generates a pocket of rising air called an “upwash”.

Energy Savings: By flying slightly to the side and behind the bird in front, every trailing goose rides this cushion of air, reducing their individual energy expenditure by roughly 20% to 30%.

1Leadership Rotation: The lead goose at the front breaks the most wind and expends the highest amount of energy. When the leader tires, it rotates to the back of the formation, and another bird takes its place.

2Flock Communication and Cohesion: The shape keeps all the birds within visual contact of one another, helping parents guide younger birds along the route and allowing the flock to stay oriented during long-distance flights.
