My Worst Photo-tour

What’s the worst travel experience you’ve ever had?

Travel experiences cannot be best or worst. Probably the memories you create in a particular travel may not be pleasant.

In my opinion, every travel creates memories which you document through pictures or blog posts or diaries or even journals. The memories associated with certain travels could be unforgettable and happy and few travel memories might be worst.

You may not like to remember those moments associated with the travel.

My bird photography expedition to nearby forest

This is the old story, when I just started the photography. I was very much hooked to bird Photography then.

This expedition which I am referring to, was near to our city, around 100 kms away from my house. It was famous spot for migratory bird photography.

I was so much excited, because it was my first ever trip to click the birds. I was going along with the photography group.

I was well prepared with my camera gear and the required clothes and essential like water bottle and dry snacks etc. Most importantly, I had to charge my camera batteries. I was having only one set of batteries so I removed discharged batteries from my DSLR and put them on the charger. So that they can get fully charged in the night.

I had studied the location and the bird species seen there so I was fully ready for my first ever bird photography tour.

I was to join the vehicle arranged by group so I got up early and got ready. And reached the bus stop at right time and joined the group of photographers.

All through our journey we were discussing about the camera settings and bird species seen in that location.

Once we reached there everyone jumped out of the bus and started looking around. It was a lake and full of various wetland birds.

Then our expert guide started explaining the camera settings and asked everybody to take out the camera and finish the settings. So that we can start our photographing trail.

I took out the camera and tried to switch on the camera but no light was coming. I was little worried as to why the camera is not switching on. The friend standing close to me saw my face and asked what happened. When I told him about the camera, he said have you put batteries in the camera.

And then I realised that, I have forgotten to put back the batteries in my camera. I had travelled with so much excitement only to realise that I cannot click a single photo because of no power to camera.

I was so upset and cursing myself and could not enjoy the bird photography at all.

It was my worst memory associated with my first ever photo-tour.

After this terrifying experience, I never forgot my batteries at home. I double check every thing which is important for photography.
