My scooter accident

What’s a moment in your life that made you feel truly alive?

Few years back, I met with an accident while I was driving my two wheeler.

It was past midnight and I was returning from bus stand. I had actually returned from Pune by attending my friend’s wedding. I had parked my scooter on the bus stand and drove it home after reaching my destination.

I was driving home happily and the road was almost empty. It was fun driving on such a traffic free road. It was city road with a divider at the centre and it was safe to drive. It was precisely 1.30 AM in the morning.

I was remembering my friend’s marriage and time spent with friends. It was sort of re-union after a long gap. So it was a happy day for me.

Suddenly a tempo jumped over the dividers and drove head on towards me. Before I understand anything it hit me hard. I fell down and realised that a boy was driving the tempo. I saw the tempo reversing and running away but could not do anything. Could not even note down his number.

Though I was conscious, I was stuck below the scooter and lying on the road. It was tough for me to come out. I saw a group of friends walking towards me. I was happy to see them with the hope of getting rescued. To my surprise, the boys saw me and said looks like he is dead, check his wallet and get the money. They took my wallet and ran away. I was looking at them helplessly.

Few minutes later two men came to me and saw me in this condition. They said he is still alive. Let us help him. They picked up the scooter and helped me to stand. And offered me water and enquired what happened. I narrated the whole story to them and thanked them for the help.

Then I looked at my scooter and realised that many of the parts are broken. I was in good shape till such time. I collected all the loose parts and kept on the scooter foot panel with the help of them. And drove back home somehow.

When I reached home, I realised that I am not able to move my hands and both the hands are fractured. Even the scooter chassis was cracked due to the hard blow by the tempo.

And then I thanked god that I am still alive. It was unbelievable.

I met evils as well as angels when I was lying on the road hoping for the help.

Within that short period of time I realised the bare truth of life, on the journey called life, you may face tough challenges or happy moments, face them with courage and compassion.

You may stumble with evil people but don’t loose hope, the angels are on their way with the help.

It was unforgettable experience for me. Even after many years,it is still fresh in my mind.
