Financial success does not affect my mindset at all. Neither positively nor negatively.

I am raised in lower middle class family and being poor never affected my childhood happiness. I still remember my childhood days fondly. Though I missed few luxuries like school picnics or abundance of resources, it never affected our joy of childhood.

During my growing up days we used to buy Groceries from government sponsored cheap grains stores. The grains used to be of inferior quality but I had no idea of what the best grains look like.

We were five siblings, so everything which was provided to us used to be divided into five parts. I was the youngest of all so sometimes my elder sister used to share some more from her own.

Right from Diwali crackers to toys, everything used to be shared. And then sharing became my regular routine. Even today I look for someone to whom I can share.

My routine in the childhood was learn, play eat and enjoy. We used to play all types of Indian outdoor games. Such games require no financial investment and can be enjoyed without spending money. For us it was best way to spend our leisure time.

My parents were so busy in meeting the survival needs, that they had no time to look at their children and care for them.

We used to stay in chawl type of houses, where community living was practised. It is sharing and caring way of life. All the neighbours living there were from same financial background and same life style. It was surely the best lifestyle ever I have lived.

The situation changed when I joined the corporate and climbed the ladder year on year. Financial situation changed and we started living better life style. However we ensured that the Children remain grounded and do not have any big pride of their father’s wealth.

Hence I am always grounded and do not have any pride or special feeling about my financial situation.

Let me narrate the incident I see almost daily from my balcony. Me and my wife, enjoy our morning masala chai in our balcony, we enjoy the nature around and the birds chirping.

At the same time my attention is focused towards the hutment, where we see young couple romancing happily together. Cracking jokes and laughing out loud.

Actually they were daily wage earners and even their days meal was not assured. In spite of this financial situation, they were happy and enjoying the life.

Hence I always say that Money does not give you Happiness.
