My favourite Gazal artists.

Who are your favorite artists?

My favourite genre of music is Ghazals and the favourite artists are Pankaj Udhas, Jagjit Singh and Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali.

Gulam Ali

It is interesting story , when our love affair was started with Ghazals. This is in the story of 1980s . I had just started my job and my duty used to be in the shifts. Morning shift would be from 6.00 am and end by 2.00 pm. Second shift used to start at 2.00 pm and go on till 10.00 pm in the night.

Being a shift supervisor, we were supposed to handover the charge to next shift and then leave the office. Usually the charge handover used to continue for one more hour after duty hours.

So during second shift, I used to leave the office by 11.00 pm. The in between the way to home was a pit stop at a hotel with the name Naygara Hotel. Our group used to spend half an hour in the hotel. The main idea was experience exchange with colleagues and destress. The hotel used to continuously play famous ghazals in the late night time.

Since then, Ghazals became my friends of happy times. More than the singing, I was impressed by the powerful lyrics. Salute to those lyricist who had such written such a divine words. Every ghazal is remembered for the unique lyrics.

And the ghazals are my all time favourite partner in long drives or celebrations. And the three Ghazal maestro are my heroes.

Thank you my dear readers for stopping by

Stay happy and keep smiling 😊

  1. Beautifully said. Ghazals do have that rare power to weave emotions into words and melodies that stay with us forever. The lyricists and maestros have indeed given us a timeless treasure. I can completely relate to them being companions for both celebrations and quiet journeys. 🙏

      1. Please don’t worry at all, it’s perfectly fine to call me MMC. In fact, MMC 2.0 is the pen name I chose for myself when I started blogging, because I consider it my “second life” after surviving a near-death experience. So, in a way, MMC has its own story too. 😊 Glad we connected over the timeless beauty of ghazals! 🙏
