Happy Trainers Day to all the trainers & Teachers.
World Trainers Day is a joyous occasion that pays homage to the unsung heroes behind the scenes of education and development. It is a day to celebrate the passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment of trainers who ignite the flames of inspiration and empower individuals to reach their fullest potential.
The Sunday morning started with lots of messages and phone calls greeting me on the occasion of Trainers Day. It was nice that so many people from my class still remeber me on this day. I was the most popular & sought after Trainer in our company. My specialization was Lean Manufacturing training for Director Managers & Cross Functional Workshop moderations.
My Journey as a Trainer
It is interesting story of How I became the Trainer. Once I got call from the Dean of a Management Institute that they are looking for an Industry Expert to speak on this subject. Can you please join us as an Industry Expert for the MBA classes. I said I will come back to you. I spoke to my wife and she instantly said you can do it. I was bit hesitant and unsure if I will be a good trainer for them. But my wife pushed me that I can do it. That was my first assignment as a Guest Lecturer for the MBA class.
I was then chosen as Trainer in my company also and speically trained in Germany for Lean Manufacturing. I used to prepare well for the training and then onwards training became part of my routine. I trained more than 1000 operators and more than 100 Director/Managers.
Key Skills Required
Standing in front of the group of 20 – 25 people for a day or more is not so easy. Specially the senior management participants are difficult to handle during Q & A sessions. Good home work of the topic, great oratory skills and high assertiveness are the basic qualities of a successful trainer. I used to watch videos of Robin Sharma, Famous Author, Trainer and coach. He is very good at voice modulation and public speaking. I learned a lot by watching his videos.
Impactful Start
If the starting 5-10 minutes of the session are impressive, you have won half the battle. Normally I start my sessions with an interesting story. The story is catchy and relevant to the training topic, participants are hooked to the topic. Use such techniques to impress the participants.
Handling the Training Session
It is important to identify Girafe within the participants. I mean the participant who can steal the complete training session if not controlled properly. This skill is developed through practice but it needs to be nurtured carefully. Use all techniques to keep such people under control. For Technical or Professional topics, it is very important to ensure that the trainer is well aware of the topic and can answer any querry related to the topic.
Conclusion
Training can be concluded by summary presentation and review of the complete learning. This can be done by asking the participants also. This reiterates the topic again.
These were the few tips to become a good trainer.
Happy Trainers Day to all the tariners and Educators.

Excellent job, Jayanta. Apart from being the Head, Dept of English Senior College with PG, teaching Lang & literature, I also took training as BPO trainer in Infosys, Mysore. I gave it to students of all faculties. Most of them are enjoying significant positions. I left that photo in my office & didn’t go there after I took VRS.
Your achievements are very special because you are an Engineer & were in key position.
Despite that, choosing to be a trainer, a teacher shows your commitment to society.
