Conquerer Jayant or Liberator Mukund

Where did your name come from?

Lord Krishna

I have two names already. Since my birth I was given two names that is Jayant & Mukund. All my relatives and siblings call me with the name Jayant.

Hindu boy’s name Jayant, meaning “victorious” or “conqueror,” derived from the Sanskrit word “jaya” meaning victory. It is associated with a valiant warrior figure in Hindu mythology, according to Wikipedia. The name Jayant is also associated with strength, courage, and determination, and individuals with this name are often described as natural leaders. ☺️

Another name given to me is Mukund which is kept in all official records. All my friends and colleagues call me Mukund.

In English, “Mukund” translates to “the giver of liberation” or “the liberator.” It is a name of Lord Krishna, signifying his role in granting freedom from the cycle of birth and death. It is also used as a name for individuals, often associated with a sense of freedom or liberation.

I still remember that my grandmother used to call me with the name Mukunda. She was old lady and had decease of Elephant foot, so walking without support was difficult for her. She was widow and had to cut her hairs. But I was favourite grandson for her and she used to always be around calling me Mukunda. I still remember her kind and loving gesture towards me.

Name gives us identity. We hold the name very near to our heart and never tolerate someone misspelling the name or wrongly pronouncing the name. In India, names are often shortened for the ease of calling. This is mainly done by close friends or even by family members. I am totally against someone shortening the names, it is unfair. The meaning behind the name is lost. Fortunately I don’t allow anyone to make short form of my name.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my post.

Stay happy and keep smiling ☺️

  1. Very well, Jayant is a beautiful name & Jayanta is more beautiful. I will call you by that name now on. You have explained in lucid manner about both the names. Thank you, Jayanta 🙏❤️

  2. It’s clear that your names hold deep meaning, connecting you to powerful concepts like victory and liberation. But what really stood out for me was the personal touch, especially the beautiful memory of your grandmother calling you Mukunda. That part gave me a feeling of déjà vu as I recalled my nana (to whom I was attached the most ) used to call me – Richa-Rani meri Gudiya Rani ! Oh how precious those moments were. It really shows how a name can carry not just a dictionary definition but also the weight of love, kindness, and cherished memories.✨🥰
