My Life in the Next Three Years: A Journey of Happiness, Family, and New Beginnings

Daily writing prompt
What will your life be like in three years?

Life is full of surprises and uncertainties. We can’t predict what tomorrow will bring—let alone the next three years! Yet, as an optimist, I choose to visualize a future filled with joy, love, and fulfillment.

A Happier and More Fulfilling Life Ahead

In the next three years, I see my life becoming happier and more satisfying. The most wonderful reason is that my wife will retire next year. After years of her busy work schedule, she’ll finally have the freedom to travel and explore the world with me.

Until now, our holiday plans always revolved around her school vacation in May. Choosing destinations that suited only the summer months was a challenge. But from next year onwards, we’ll be free to travel whenever we wish—and start checking off destinations from our long-awaited bucket list!

Family Celebrations and Big Moments

The coming years will also bring some emotional and joyful family milestones. My younger daughter is expected to get married within the next two years—a grand celebration we all eagerly await. Whether the wedding happens in the US or India, I’m ready for both!

After her marriage, our family gatherings will be filled with joy, laughter, and new relationships. Yet, deep inside, I know it will be hard to say goodbye to my daughter. As every father feels, it’s difficult to see your little girl start a new chapter of her life, shifting her world from her father to her husband. Such is life’s beautiful yet emotional transition.

Promotion to “Nana” (Grandfather)

Another expected joy is the arrival of my elder daughter’s baby—making me a proud Nana! Though it’s her decision entirely, the thought itself fills my heart with excitement. My wife and I are already looking forward to our days of babysitting and storytelling.

As we say in Marathi, “दुधावरची साय दुधापेक्षा जास्त प्रिय असते” — you love the cream on milk more than the milk itself. Likewise, grandparents love their grandchildren even more dearly!

Our Bucket List of Travel Adventures

Once my wife retires, travel will be our top priority. Together, we’ve already prepared our travel bucket list—a perfect blend of spiritual journeys and scenic escapes.

Our top destinations include:

  • Girnar Parikrama
  • Narmada Parikrama
  • Char Dham Yatra – Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri & Yamunotri
  • Valley of Flowers – a simple yet stunning trek
  • Krabi Islands, Thailand
  • Kerala, God’s Own Country

Of course, the list is endless, but these are our dream destinations to begin with.

Looking Forward With Gratitude

The next three years promise to be full of new experiences, emotional milestones, and countless happy moments. I’m excited, grateful, and curious to see what life (and God) has planned for me.

Thank you, dear readers, for stopping by and sharing this glimpse of my dreams.

Stay Happy & Keep Smiling! 😊
