A Lazy Sunday That’s Not So Lazy

Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I don’t remember a single day when I was just lying down and doing nothing. A lazy Sunday routine isn’t something I’m used to. I love the outdoors and can’t remain locked inside for too long.

The only exception was during the COVID-19 lockdown. I still remember when I was infected and had to be quarantined. It was one of the most painful times for me. Being confined to a room, away from family, doing nothing—it was hard. There was no physical suffering, but the mental health challenges during quarantine were real. The loneliness and emotional fatigue were heavy.

Thankfully, things are better now. Sunday is my official rest day. No workouts, no hustle. But still, my Sunday morning ritual begins with a warm cup of masala chai, my plants, and most importantly, time with my wife. We sit together, chat about life, dreams, and sometimes even debate plans for the future. You know how husband and wife relationships work—most of the time, I just nod in agreement! But I cherish these simple conversations.

Later in the morning, I help with a few household chores and then head to our much-loved Sunday Tea Club. It’s a close group of friends, and our weekly gathering over tea, gossip, and laughter is something I truly look forward to. Spending time with friends like this is a great way to unwind and connect. It’s one of those simple joys of life that makes the weekend special.

Evenings are reserved for quality family time. We usually go for a drive or a walk together, and sometimes squeeze in a bit of shopping. Afterward, there’s always a funny debate—whether to eat out or not. I suggest dining out so my wife gets a break from cooking, but she insists on eating at home. In the end, we settle for a simple one-dish homemade meal.

And that’s how my so-called “lazy” Sunday goes. In reality, it’s filled with moments that matter—love, connection, and a bit of laughter. All the other days are packed with tasks and responsibilities, leaving little room for rest.

Thank you, dear readers, for stopping by.

Stay happy, stay connected, and keep smiling!
