Change of house

What was the hardest personal goal you’ve set for yourself?

I have set the hardest goal of buying a new house and selling my current house. Then shifting to new house.

I know the instant reaction would be that this may not be the hardest goal. But if I tell you that I am a retired person and staying in current house for more than 20 years. Now you may agree that this is the hardest goal. Currently I am pursuing this goal and expecting to finish by end of this year.

Hardest task

The hardest task for me n my wife is to leave this house. Every corner of the house carries immense memories of our family. Growing up of my two little princess. Their study corner, then the play room. My elder daughter was fascinated to be a teacher and she used to be strict teacher punishing me and my wife, her poor students. This class used to take place in our bedroom.

The drawing room was our cycle track and the cricket playground. All the four walls carry cricket stump drawing even today. The dining room has a conference table for dinner time chat on current affairs. And my favourite part of the house is our terrace which houses all plants. This is the place where I spent major part of the holiday.

All our emotions and feelings are attached to this house. Every brick is built thoughtfully with a purpose. It is hard to even think of leaving this place.

Starting all over again

Another tough task is , planning and executing the interior design of the new home. Every minute detail has to be taken into consideration and executed.

Packing and unpacking the articles is another Herculean task. Every single item carries the story of our love affair and togetherness. The packing of these memories will be difficult but has to be done.

Change is always better

But we discussed that , every step of progress brings the change. And every change brings new opportunities and new milestones. New house offers so many opportunities to accommodate bigger families and better living. It is fully equipped housing complex with beautiful amenities. It is closer to nature and environment friendly.

So let us embrace the change with open mind and positivity. It will bring us better results.

  1. Good morning Mukund sir !
This is a beautifully written, heartfelt post. Thank you for sharing your experience and your vulnerability. You’ve perfectly captured why buying a new house isn’t just a transaction—it’s an emotional migration. Wishing that you create more such moments to be cherished (of a different kind though) in your new house as well🌸🙌
