Remembering Aai Baba

Today being the annual Shraddha for my parents Aai & Baba, the post is dedicated to them 🙏

Pitru Paksha is a significant 15-day Hindu period where descendants honor ancestors by performing rituals, such as Shraddha and Tarpan, to help their souls find peace, achieve Moksha (liberation), and ensure the living receive their blessings for prosperity and well-being. This time is dedicated to expressing gratitude for the life received from ancestors.

My father can be described in one sentence as Simple Living High thinking person. Very high moral values and disciplined personality. My mother was like her name Ganga – as pure as the sacred river Ganges. Relentlessly worked for the family and supported my father. Our family was joint family. My grandfather passed away when my father was young and he being elder son, the responsibility came on his shoulders. He took care of two of his sisters and one brother. Right from education to getting them married everything was taken care of by him. He started his career in Hyderabad state as treasurer of Nizam and after Marathwada Mukti Sangram came to Pune and joined industries department. He retired as Deputy Director of Industries.

He lived very principled life. Even being in Government job, he served as honest officer all through his career. He was very much forward thinking. He never enforced traditional rituals on us. He gave utmost importance to education.

During my childhood, he used to ensure that I read English newspapers and improve my vocabulary. He was very supportive for career development of all of us. I was the first Engineer in the family and that was proud moment for him in 80s.

After my marriage, he encouraged my wife to take up a job. During those days, it was not so common but he said I will support you for the house chores but pursue your career.

My mother comes from the family of saints. Famous Shree Dhundamaharaj was her brother and she spent all her childhood in their math or the temple. We inherited her teachings of kindness and spirituality.

We are highly indebted to both of them for making us what we are today. 🙏

Thank you dear readers for stopping by.
