Chitthi Aayi Hain….

Daily writing prompt
What’s your all-time favorite album?

This prompt took me back to my younger days. The nostalgia was further added by the posts from my dear bloggers Dr. Rajendra & Aparna. Dr. Rajendra took me back to the years when I was struggling with speakers & amplifiers to get high bass and Aparna took me to the days of Cassette recorders and mix tapes. It was a time when we have to prepare the playlist and get the songs recorded on the cassette. I still remember the days when we used to salvage the stuck tapes when it contains our precious playlists.

In those days the first choice of Albums was Bollywood classics. The most popular songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar & Asha Bhosale. Then abother cassette used to contain my favourite gazals by Pankaj Udhas, Gulam Ali and Jagjit Singh. It was treasure for me. Those gazals were liked by me for two resons one is the lyrics and the melody. Even today I enjoy those old gazals. And the next favorite album was Bony-M and Abba. It was craze in our youngsters for these albums.

Choice of Album actually depends upon the mood & situation. If I am on a long drive with family my choice could be Marathi Bhavgeet by Asha Bhosale or my favourite gazals. If I am travelling outstation then the mood starts with the Album of Allen Walker, the famous Faded or Alone. And then we shift to Kishore Kumar.

The song, which makes me emotional, is sung by Pankaj Udhas from the movie Naam and the lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The song is like Chitthi Aayi Hain..… The mesmerising voice of Pankaj Udhas and heart touching lyrics by Anand Bakshi ji. You are spell bound when you close you eyes and listen to this song. Every time I listen to this song, I visualise the father requesting his son to come back home from a foreign country and I see his wife and mother weeping in his memory. What a powerful lysrics. Salute to the lyricist and salute to the singer. The song which touches your heart and brings tears is immensely powerful.

And this song more resonated with my feelings when my younger daughter went to US for higher studies.

Thank you dear readers for stopping by

Stay Happy & Keep Smiling
