Embracing Nostalgia During Gauri Ganapathi Festival

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

We are in the midst of Gauri Ganapathi festival. This is one of the most important events in the year. Right from my childhood, I have been participating in this celebrations. It used be large gathering of family & friends for dinner. We used to enjoy the gathering of all siblings and play some games till the Pooja is over.

For children, the main attraction was delicious food. Lot of sweet preparations and other traditional delicacies. At the same time, it used to be the most creative time of the year for decoration design. It was indirect competition amongst the houses, about whose decoration is best. In those days, neither Ideas nor decoration material used to be availabloe readymade. We used to start the preparations one month in advance. Being an engineering student, my task was to connect and start colourful lighting for Ganesha & Gauri. Today I am bit nostalgic about all these memories.

But more than the celebration memories, I am missing my mother today. She used to play main lead role in all these celebrations. She was not so much educated but most practical and smart lady. She used to plan and execute all these functions without any issue. I still remember her relentless hard work in the kitchen to coock delicious food. The taste of each item prepared by her was awesome. More than anything else, it was filled with lot of love and care. Her presence around us, was an assurance that everything will be alright, don’t worry. Even after my marriage, we were really worry free about all these rituals and traditions. Today, we have to manage everything without any support from the parents.

We have their blessings with us. It is the power of the blessings that we are able to manage everything smoothly.

Thank you for stopping by & reading the post.

Stay Happy & keep smiling.

  1. It’s clear how much these traditions and, most importantly, the presence of your mother mean to you.
