Travel to Seven Sister States

What are your future travel plans?

I love to travel and explore new places, new people and different cultures. Being a wildlife photographer, I have been travelling a lot across India especially to the tiger reserves and other wildlife reserves.

But still my bucket list is full with many places to visit. And the top name currently is North East states of India. I haven’t explored these places yet.

Northeast India is a haven for birding, boasting diverse ecosystems and a wide array of bird species. Some of the most popular and productive birding spots include Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Namdapha National Park, and Kaziranga National Park, each offering unique habitats and species.

Assam:

  • Nameri National Park:Known for its diverse birdlife, including the White-winged Wood Duck, Great Hornbill, and Ibisbill.
  • Kaziranga National Park:A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaziranga is famous for its large mammals but also offers excellent birding opportunities, with species like the Greater Adjutant and Bengal Florican.
  • Dibru-Saikhowa National Park:This park, a biodiversity hotspot, is home to the White-winged Wood Duck and Falcated Duck.
  • Maguri Beel Wetland:A great spot for aquatic birds, including the Swamp Francolin, Falcated Duck, and Baer’s Pochard.
  • Dehing Patkai:A biodiversity hotspot, offering sightings of White-winged Duck and Hooded Pitta.

Arunachal Pradesh:

  • Mishmi Hills:This area is a birding paradise, with species like Sclater’s Monal, Blyth’s Tragopan, and Rufous-necked Hornbill.
  • Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary:Renowned for its diverse birdlife, including the Bugun Liocichla, a critically endangered species.
  • Namdapha National Park:Home to a vast array of bird species, including five different hornbill species.
  • Pakke Tiger Reserve:Another excellent location for birdwatching in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Seven Sister States of India are the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura. They are located in the northeastern region of India and are known for their unique cultural diversity, stunning landscapes, and rich heritage.

Here’s a bit more about each state:

  • Arunachal Pradesh:Known as the “Land of the Dawn-lit Mountains,” it boasts diverse landscapes, including the Himalayas, and is rich in tribal culture.
  • Assam:Famous for its tea plantations, wildlife sanctuaries like Kaziranga National Park, and vibrant Assamese culture.
  • Manipur:Known as the “Jeweled Town,” Manipur is known for its vibrant culture, Loktak Lake, and the Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only floating national park in the world.
  • Meghalaya:Known as the “Abode of the Clouds,” it’s famous for its living root bridges, waterfalls, and Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth.
  • Mizoram:Known for its rolling hills, vibrant Mizo culture, and unique traditions.
  • Nagaland:Known for its diverse tribal cultures, festivals, and the Hornbill Festival, which showcases the cultural heritage of the state.
  • Tripura:Known for its ancient temples, palaces, and rich history.

These states are collectively known as the “Seven Sisters” due to their geographical proximity, shared cultural traits, and their historical and political connections.

Explore your world and enjoy

Have a great day ahead and keep smiling 😊
