Pav Bhaji

What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

Pav bhaji

In Hindu mythology, the food is first offered to the gods and then served as gods prasad. Every god loves different food items.

In India cooking has devotional importance. I still remember, my mother never allowed me to enter kitchen without taking bath. It is believed to be the sacred place and the moods of the chef impacts the foods he prepares.

Even the modern science also believes that if you are in bad mood or frustrated while cooking, the food will carry that negative energy to the person who consumes the food items.

Hence, cooking and the chef is given utmost importance in India, especially when food is offered to god.

For example, lord Krishna loves butter and richly flavourful sweets like laddus etc. The amazing fact is, there are many festivals of different gods in different seasons. And the favourite food preparation for that god acts as a medicine for the season. In winter the offering to Lord Krishna is Dink Laddu which is appropriate for the winter.

In Sanskrit there is saying that

Food saves lives, food kills and the food has multiple impacts on our lives. So if you eat right food combination in right proportions it will save your lives but anything in excess will make you sick.

In Ayurveda, food is categorised in two ways, One is Satvik food and Other one is Tamasi food. The Satvik food is the one which is freshly made and simple. Not spicy or hot. It is mainly vegetarian food. It makes the person peaceful and calm. Whereas the Tamasi food is very spicy and hot. It makes you aggressive and short tempered.

My previous blog post on Maharashtrian Square Meal is highly recommended read for you.

To answer the prompt, I love Pav Bhaji. It is the curry made of all boiled vegetables with special spices and paired with bread.

Enjoy your food and keep smiling 😊
