Rule with Head and Lead with Heart

What jobs have you had?

All along my corporate career I have been leading various teams. I have worked in different functions like manufacturing, operations, services and continuous improvement department.

During manufacturing department, I had highest number of people to lead. I had interesting times dealing with so many different types of people. It’s a great experience and learning. Managing people is most difficult task. It’s an art.

Then I was leading the facility management for the plant. It’s challenging and demanding job. Since it is a service department, you are always at receiving end.

Most interesting job was leading the change initiative team. It was my most favourite job. You have to coordinate between the various departments and various different locations. The best part was networking with so many people from different locations. It included dealing with cultural diversity . It was great learning.

I have kept one principle in mind – try to make positive difference in people’s life. Then the leadership is successful.

So lead with heart and rule with head.
