What sacrifices have you made in life?

Sacrifice is another name for love. We sacrifice throughout our life for our dear ones or loved ones. we sacrifice for our parents or our siblings or our children or they sacrifice for us. So this is common across all the people.

But my story is little different. This is from my office and I have sacrificed for my colleague.

This is ten years back story. Like every corporate our office has annual salary revisions and promotions during year end. All these revisions has got upper limit through quota system.

That year in my team the allotted quota was one promotion. I recommended my subordinate for promotion. My boss called me and said the quota is only one for your team. We have to decide between your case and your subordinates case. And he asked me my opinion. I instantly replied to my boss that we will give promotion to my subordinate. He was surprised. He asked me to rethink. He said you are losing one chance in career and it will be one year loss for lifetime. We can give promotion to your subordinate next year also. Please rethink.

I was firm on my decision. I said he is quite senior to me and also deserving. Let us give him the promotion this year.

My boss was happy to see my sacrifice and thanked me for the same.

I was satisfied too because I was able to elevate one of my reporter.
