Longevity – Boon or Curse

Yes you read it right. Longevity whether it’s a Boon or Curse. I am prompted to write on this based on my real life experiences.

There was a news article about the average age of Indian citizens and the conclusion was that the longevity rate has increased. That means due to new medical inventions and technology advancement the medical treatment has improved significantly resulting in higher mortality rates.

Boon or Curse

Now the question is whether this is a boon or curse. The obvious answer is that it’s a boon for humanity. Yes it is human desire for generations to live longer. It is really great to live healthier life for longer periods. However we see rare cases of people who live healthier life for longer time. I have seen many people suffering from various old age ailments after the age of 60 years. They live till the age of 80 years or more with such health issues. Now living for almost 20 years with lots of suffering and minimal movement or no movements is certainly a curse for the person suffering and for the people nursing him/her.

Live long healthy

It is boon for the people who are independent and are able to live on their own till last breath. Such people are very much lucky and they inspire others to live healthy lives. Actually increase in mere number of years lived does not help but the quality of life is very important. The better the quality of life better you have lived your life. Does not matter how many years. That is real boon.

Mere increase in numbers – a curse

We see many people around, either bed ridden or suffering with serious health issues. Their dear ones like son or daughters are busy struggling with their own problems like career or children etc. In such a situation it becomes difficult for them to take care of ailing elderly parents. It can be debatable topic whether they should manage all this or not. But overall it’s becoming the big issue in India. And off late we see lots of Senior citizens spaces or Old Age homes, mushrooming like never before. So please try to improve your quality of life by adopting healthy lifestyles. This should be followed from younger age so that you live happily over the period of time.

Quality of Life

If you have to live healthy life for long time then improve quality of life. Don’t mistake me with rich people lifestyle. Quality of life means eating healthy, daily exercise and spiritual thoughts. This can drastically improve your lifestyle and finally your well being.

Healthy Longevity

This should be thought in early age. May be when you just finish your teenage. If you incorporate healthy habits like good food and exercise routine you can expect healthy longevity. Coupled with this there has to be some exercise for your soul like Meditation.

Important is positive attitude for stress free life. Embrace the healthy lifestyle mentioned above and enjoy healthy longevity.

Dear readers : what do you think. Longevity is boon or curse
