
Gondeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the complete and best preserved Nagara style in Deccan. It was tentatively built in the beginning of 12th Century AD. The temple is best example of Panchayatan shrine ( Main shrine flanked by subsidiary shrines at four corners ) and all the five shrines are on a raised platform ( 38 x 28 m ).
The main Temple is dedicated to God Shiva and the subsidiary shrines are of Ganapati Vishnu Surya and Parvati. The entire complex is within a walled enclosure provided with gateways on south and east.

The main shrine consists of a Garbhagruha ( sanctum ), antarala ( vestibule ) mahamandapa porched entrances on north south and east. A detached pavilion to the east houses the Nandi.
The shrine is surmounted by a curvilinear shikhara comprising of a miniature Anga-sikharas of diminishing sizes. The mahamandapa is provided with a pyramid roof.
Location
This temple is located near Sinnar village close to Nashik. Approximately 30 km from Nashik.
