This was iconic Hindi film released in 1975. No other film could break the record made by this film.

Sholay went on to earn a still-standing record of 60 golden jubilees across India, and was the first film in India to celebrate a silver jubilee at over 100 theatres. It was shown continuously at Bombay’s Minerva theatre for over five years.

This film is so popular in India that even today its dialogues are used by public for entertainment. The characters in the film like Gabbar the villain, Jai & Veeru the hero and friends. Basanti the heroine were all famous and remembered even today.

It is simple story from a rural India village. The rivalry of a criminal with the jailor. His revenge by killings the complete family of police inspector and then revenge by police inspector.

The twist comes when the jailor hires two criminals for the revenge. And both of them being honest support the jailer in his revenge act.

Film contains complete entertainment package like comedy, romance , music and violence. The artists in the film were famous heroes and heroines. Even the villain was portrayed so well that the public started hating him for the cruelty he played.

I have never seen such film again.
