How do significant life events or the passage of time influence your perspective on life?

Very interesting prompt by WordPress. In my opinion life is the biggest university teaching us so many skills. Each experience in life teaches us new wisdom.

I will share two of my life experiences one from my childhood and one from my teenage.

This story is from my teenage, when I had just started the job and shifted to a new city away from my home.

I was walking to home from office and suddenly saw a city bus waiting at the signal. I got into the bus but the conductor said this is not the stop and get down. I fought with him and said please charge extra money and allow me to travel. He said okay. When he approached for ticket money I realised that my wallet is empty. The conductor said now I will handover you to police. I was scared to go to jail. And the bus drove to police station and I was handed over to police. I was in tears. To my surprise the police station incharge purchased a ticket for me and asked bus conductor to go away. Then he said to me to take care that such incident does not happen again. I thanked him and promised to return his money next day. The humanity and kindness of police officer taught me a lesson to be kind .

Second incident is from my childhood. My father asked me to buy groceries and handed over the money. I returned home with the grocery items and handed over the change to my father. He realised that the change is more and that means by mistake shop person has given back extra money to me. I was happy to keep the extra money. My father was upset with me and said to me that never accept anything free or extra. This loss of the cash will cost to the shop employee and why should we burden him with such loss. Please go return extra money back to that person. This event taught me the lesson of Humanity and that Honesty is the best Policy.

I know such stories will be rare in today’s society but yes life teaches us at every stage. We must learn from each experience.
